Mike Wong's One Person Exhibition
Singapore artist Mike Wong is an action painter.
Instead of revealing what the initial intentions were, the thick paint that was applied on the canvases was removed to reveal what was under the action.
In so doing, the hidden intentions that were not expected by the artist are revealed and came to light. The original intentions in the form of scraped paint are stored instead in glass bottles.
Mike’s paintings have such vibrant colour transparency that gives the impression as if they are lit from behind, like stained glass.
His poetic works possess a sense of drama and emotional depth.
In this case the expression of the artist’s inner and subconscious world is put up for self-questioning.
